Known for providing high-quality reinforced plastic products, Hanlon Industries was contracted by a client from the water filtration industry in Windsor, Wisconsin to produce a series of mineral tank bases. Using our advanced, compression molding press, which is able to uphold a (±) .031 of an inch precision tolerance, we manufactured these tanks to meet precise customer supplied dimensions.
Fiberglass Engineering constructed these mineral tank bases from SMC material. Often used in compression molding operations, SMC is made from a mix of unsaturated resin, fiberglass, and fillers. Due to this compound's excellent electrical and chemical resistance properties, mechanical strength, stable dimension, and pliability, it is commonly employed in various manufacturing applications. Using this material, we molded each tank to measure precisely 4.50 inches in height and 20 inches in outside diameter. Each part weighed 6 pounds and was designed to hold up to 105.768 in3 volume.
After molding was complete, we provided each tank base with a smooth, glossy finish, making certain that no pits, nicks, scratches, or physical deformities could be found on the part's outer surface. We also performed a series of comprehensive dimensional inspections to ensure that each base fulfilled our customer's exact specifications. Once all operations were properly concluded, we delivered our client's products to their facility in Wisconsin. Due to our ability to successfully mold a series of high-quality mineral tank bases for the water filtration industry, we have now been contracted by this client to produce 5,000 tank bases per year. |
